The CMS Event Builder Demonstrator based on Myrinet
The data acquisition system for the CMS experiment at the large hadron collider (LHC) will require a large and high performance event building network. Several switch technologies are currently being evaluated in order to compare different architectures for the event builder. One candidate is Myrinet. This paper describes the demonstrator which has been setup to study a small-scale (8x8) event ...

متن کاملThe CMS trigger system
This paper presents an overall description of the CMS trigger system which is composed by the Level-1 Trigger and the High-Level Trigger subsystems. Details on the algorithms and selection criteria at a luminosity of 2x10 33 cm-2 s-1 are provided. High efficiencies for benchmark physics channels are attainable with an inclusive selection that avoids detailed topological requirements on the event.
متن کاملNetwork Performance Testing for the BABAR Event Builder
We present an overview of the design of event building in the BABAR Online, based upon TCP/IP and commodity networking technology. BABAR is a high-rate experiment to study CP violation in asymmetric ee collisions. In order to validate the event-builder design, an extensive program was undertaken to test the TCP performance delivered by various machine types with both ATM OC-3 and Fast Ethernet ...
متن کاملHadronic Event-Shape Variables at CMS
In this note a study of hadronic event shapes in QCD events at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is presented. Calorimetric jet momenta, determined by various jet clustering algorithms, are used as input for calculating various event-shape variables which probe the structure of the hadronic final state. It is shown that the normalized event-shape distributions are robust under variations of the j...
